Theological Joke – Mary

Some of you might not get this joke, some might be offended by it. As I have no intention to offend please stop here if you find religious humour unpalatable. So here is the joke, as originally read here, http://clayboy.co.uk/2011/02/caught-in-adultery-the-seriously-unbiblical-version/;

So there was this woman who was caught in the act of adultery. Some angry righteous men dragged her before Jesus and asked him if they should stone her as Moses commanded. Jesus doodled for a while in the dust, then looked up and said to them “Let the one of you who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Jesus went back to drawing in the dirt. One by one the leading men started to drop the stones they’d picked up. Suddenly from the back of the crowd, this huge boulder comes flying over everyone’s head and smashed the poor woman’s head into the ground.

There’s a long pause, and then Jesus – without even looking up – says wearily, “Oh, mother!”

Theologically the issue we have to think about is Mary, mother of Jesus. was she sinless, is she in some way a co-redemptrix?
