You know and I know that the world is rushing headlong to Hell.
I am old enough to remember (vaguely) ACDC’s original version of Highway to Hell. It was, in its day, a rock classic though far from Christian in lyrics and ethos. Imagine my surprise to hear of a church led by Perry Noble using it as part of their Easter service last year. The YouTube video is below.
I heard of it from the second video shown below where there is a very interesting debate going on about cultural engagement of Christians /church in contemporary culture.
Simple question: Should they have sung this song in a church service? Where should the line be drawn on what is acceptable and not? Is it ever right to provoke people (especially boring Christians) by doing things like this.
You know and I know that the world is rushing headlong to Hell. So what are you going to do about it? Have one less mochachino and donate a few pennies to world mission? Or really follow the radical call of Scripture:
“You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Luke 18:22)
The final clip is an extract from the sermon Perry Noble preached after the band sang Highway to Hell.
